A poplar tree on our property was struck by lightning.
An unfinished metal building needed to justify its existence. I wanted a yoga studio. Enter Bill Mitchell.
After hauling the huge fallen tree to Reggie Stevens' Barefoot Wood for initial cutting, after
allowing the wood to dry for about 2 years, after weeks of working at Barefoot Wood to mill, plane, size, shape,
and select, he announced that we were ready to start building. Some of the process was difficult, some was exciting,
some was exhausting, and it all took far longer than we expected. The final result was well worth the work: Blue Heron Yoga, a studio in the country, is a beautiful and serene space with walls
and floor of poplar of such surprising variety of color that I'm newly delighted every time I enter the space. The
studio, like yoga itself, is an ongoing process and may never be completely finished, but in the process is joy and satisfaction.
Bill has given me a tremendous gift and I take pleasure in sharing that gift with all who join me in the study of yoga
in a beautiful space.
